Miller's Dale used to be my most favourite local walk, I've walked it for over 20 years but sadly since the Peak Park saw fit to turn it into the M4 for cyclists I now only visit it on rare occasions, never on the weekends and most especially never during holiday times, it is not pleasant been nearly mown down by increasingly inconsiderate cyclists who are on a mission to get from A to B as quickly as possible without bothering to take in the truly spectacular views, if you have a dog as I do it is downright dangerous having to constantly scan the horizon at the same time making sure my dog does not explore too far from my heel, I made the mistake of taking my mum along the trail in a wheelchair thinking that cyclists would be kind and considerate, not a chance! So only visit on quiet days, later in the afternoon is usually a good time where you can stroll and enjoy truly beautiful views without the danger of having to avoid bikes. If you are a biker then the trail is your highway but please try and remember it used to be a walking trail long before it became a highway for bikes, please try and be considerate to walkers!

Good size car park, fairly reasonable. Cafe and toilets in original station building. Access straight onto the trail. Turn left and walk towards the old mills, now converted into living accommodation. Turn right and head towards monsal head, probably the more interesting direction. Dog-friendliness: Good dog walking, but be mindful of the many, many cycling peeps. Very few bins.
