A local legend for all the right reasons! If youre looking for a hot food/sandwich place then Als Kitchen should be on your list, an extensive menu of high quality foods, exciting daily specials and a good choice of snacks/cakes and drinks. I luckily used to live around the corner from Als which is when I first tried it - after hearing nothing but good things about the place. Als isnt quite in the town centre and does require you to travel to the area specifically but its worth the trip! The place isnt exactly huge inside but if you catch it at the right time you wont have to wait long, I got here at 11:30 before the lunch rush and was served and back out of the shop within 3 minutes. I went for the immensely popular Cumberland sausage and caramelised onion baguette, it was divine! The sausage was really high quality meat and the onions were rich and flavourful inside of a soft buttered baguette Overall, Als Kitchen is well known to the locals for good reason, the staff are always friendly and the food is always top notch, you cant ask for much more than that! Please note that parking can be a nightmare here as its on-street disc parking in a residential area, look around Hartington Street for more spaces.
