I needed an eye test and new frames, but wanted to use an independent opticians rather than a national chain. I did a bit of research online and Stephen John Eyecare came up with an excellent reputation. So I had my eye test, which included behind the eye and pressure test. The results were explained to me in detail plus any other questions I had answered imformatively. I then had a consultation concerning what type of lens I wanted, but no pressure applied to go for the more expensive options. I also tried on quite a number of frames, and got great advice about how they looked and whether they would work for me if they needed widening (I've got a fat head ). All in all it took about 2 hours, but I was very satisfied with the time and care, including the attention to detail from all of the staff. I'd thoroughly recommend you give them a go if you are looking for another optician to try.

I used Stephen John to obtain new glasses after an eye test suggested a small change in my prescription. I have long sight which means that the lenses that I need can be quite heavy so I wanted to see what he could do to lighten the load. He carefully explained the various options and used an on-line tool, to look at what both Zeiss and Rodenstock could offer, explaining as he did this how the lens design of varifocals can be optimally tuned depending on how they will be used. The results of his careful work to get an optimal lens design is first class and I have no hesitation in recommending his services when new glasses are needed.

By far the best selection of frames I have ever seen and I have been wearing glasses all my life! Great check up and personal service. Well worth every penny.
