Careful - if you don't go for a while, they no longer consider you a current patient. And their waiting list to become one again currently has 400 people on it, according to the receptionist. They don't warn you in any way that you are about to be excommunicated. They consider it your responsibility/problem. Got me in quite a bit of difficulty as a pregnant woman as you have to take extra care of your teeth while pregnant. That's why the NHS gives you a maternity exemption certificate... But obviously that's no good to you if you no longer have a dentist.
