Costa Coffee

Every table is dirty and littered with items but less than 15% are occupied. 4 staff behind the counter chatting and the one who made my hit chocolate kept wiping her nose on the back of her blue gloves. Left my drink there and abandoned the coffee shop in favor of a drink from the mini market next door. For a hospital setting its crazy this is the filthiest coffee shop I have been in.

Three days running they cleared all the food and snacks away 30 minutes before closing to deter customers. Despite displays clearly stating that weekdays close at 6pm, when I went there at 4:58pm the server very curtly told me, were closed!. It was so rude. When we queried the time she said, sorry but were closed at 5pm on Bank Holidays. I know its not 5 pm yet but by the time Ive finished serving this customer it will be!. She then argued that we shouldve arrived earlier and we should have seen the tiny notice at the other end of the counter that gives the early closing times on Bank Holidays. Her tone throughout was so aggressive but this Costa is in a hospital where people get bad news, are sometimes grieving and often feel more vulnerable. Horrible, horrible attitude. I dont mind if youre closed, but please BE KIND.

Disappointed with the staff coming close to closing time. I arrived at 4:50pm to grab a coffee and go to my wife who is staying in long term. I was told by the lady that they weren't serving anymore customers because they had already cleaned down. Even though service is supposed to continue until 5pm. If it wasn't for the politness of the staff I've met earlier on then it would be a 1 star.
