  • Wallbars 1986

I remember attending 'church parade' there as Royal Artillery recruit in 1986. We marched up from the barracks in our No. 2 dress uniforms and after the service, treated to tea & cakes and engaged in polite conversation with some old dears. Sad to see the place empty, but I can't imagine it ever had a thriving Christian community, just the odd military service lead by an indifferent padre!

Originally chapel to Royal Military Academy, later Garrison Church. Foundation stone laid in 1902 by Earl Roberts and completed in 1904 to the designs of Major Hemming of the Royal Engineers.

Lovely church structure, no service held in the church as it's disused.
