This campsite boasts beautiful scenery and is located on an active farm with charming animals (including some very talkative cows and inquisitive poultry). The facilities were basic, with two outhouse-style bathrooms, shower cubicles, and a washing-up sink available. Hot water is provided in 6-minute increments and requires 50p coins, the toilet washbasins do not have a hot water supply or dryers. Our host was friendly upon arrival and mostly left us to ourselves but was happy to talk to me and tell me about the farm and the local area. However, we had an unpleasant encounter on our third day which marred the experience. We'd returned to the campsite late the previous evening after a long day out and our EV battery was critically low. We'd already paid extra for electricity and we charged the car overnight reasoning if more was required, on top of this, we'd sort it the following day. We never got the opportunity because our host shouted at us through the side of our tent at 6:45 am the next morning, waking us up and accusing us of being dishonest about our electricity usage before walking off saying we'd need to pay "much more" leaving us to feel anxious about it throughout the day. Later in the afternoon the host returned to shout through the tent again. We had been prepared to pay all along and the amount they wanted wasn't unreasonable for the one night we'd used but their demand was for that amount for each night of our stay, insisting that there was no way to prove we didn't use that much power every night because we had the charging cables with us. We found such accusations unwarranted and felt uncomfortable, unsafe and unwelcome at the campsite, ultimately deciding to cut our stay short by one day and checking into a hotel. Overall, while the campsite had some positive aspects, this experience with the host and this issue left us with a poor impression and I cannot recommend it. **Edit because I see there was a response** I appreciate the desire to exclude EV charging from the electricity price and recommend that the owner clarify this on their booking forms. Perhaps they should similarly consider excluding electric heaters/cooking in camper vans, as these can draw more power than an EV from a household supply. We had not planned to charge the car on-site and only chose to because the battery was almost dead when we returned late that night. We'd have discussed it the next day had we been permitted to do so AFTER waking up. Declining to leave my tent at 6:45 am when I'd just been awakened by being shouted out through it is not an unreasonable response, particularly when I wasn't dressed and hadn't had my medication. I don't appreciate being told how I "obviously" felt. We did our best to put aside the worry from that experience during the day and enjoy our pre-booked day out, staying away as long as possible. We'd already decided to leave when we returned, and I was packing the tent's contents whilst trying to manage my partner's anxiety. As a neurodiverse person, I felt uncomfortable confronting someone already shouting at me, so I again declined to leave the tent. We had no objection to paying for the night we used. However, the host demanded we pay that for every night because we couldn't prove what we used and accused us of "coming prepared" because we had the EV cable (part of the car). The host notes that we left "without paying," but I dispute this. I chose not to engage with them further, and we didn't request a refund for the unused night. This amount is higher than what they demanded from us for additional electricity, so I considered the balance settled unless they wish to now refund the difference. This could have been quickly resolved in an amicable manner had the host approached things differently, without being aggressive and without making accusations and assumptions about us. I reject the response, and I've clarified the points I consider misleading. I do not intend to engage further.

Barbara is lovely. Facilities very clean. Lovely calves and the line of white ducks roaming around. Didnt partake of the showers but would have liked hot water for hand washing in the toilet. Compromised by using the washing up sink which did have hot water. As I have two dogs it would have been nice to have a little enclosed grass area as when I was there the lane was flooded and very muddy although there is a dog shower when you got back. Lovely and quiet, lovely area and so handy for Wells, Cheddar, Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet.

Basic campsite..but great place to be. So close to Wells and the cathedral. Barbara (campsite owner) very friendly and welcoming. Dark at night so do make sure you pack a torch!! Love the ducks and hen who wander around the campsite looking for scraps! Another world altogether.

Last year we stayed twice, 4 nights in total. Lovely site. My only suggestion for improvement was that it would be nice to have hot water at the washing-up sink. This year we stayed once for 3 nights ( August bank holiday). They now have a hot water supply at the washing up sink. Everything works fine and any faults are rectified quickly. We love the free-range ducks wandering around.
