On the last night of our anniversary, my partner and I decided to go for a meal. First impressions indicated it would be a nice place with good food, worth the prices. We were told to sit in the main area of the pub as if they were trying to avoid using the main eating area? Service wasnt brilliant and pretty much no beer on tap (including the typical lagers / cider). At this point we very nearly walked out to go elsewhere but we had a long drive home that evening so I decided we would settle into some good grub. Our food came and we were pretty disappointed, the meats were nice but all the veg seemed like it came straight out of a microwave. The lamb gravy was just red wine watered down and felt very hungry at the end. Massive plate, Weatherspoon quality delivery. Throughout our meal the bar was propped up by the workers friends. Im not saying a pub isnt a place to have a good laugh but these guys were talking about some grim topics; at one point it felt more like a youth group than a place to have a romantic meal with your partner loud, obnoxious and no courtesy to the customers. We wont be visiting again and would not recommend to anyone. On our drive out the town and further North there seemed to be some gorgeous places we wish wed waited for!

Very disappointed with the food. 'Roasted and marinated Cauliflower with a peppercorn sauce' was barely cooked (boiled, no charring), plain ( no marinade) very crunchy Cauliflower with a watery packet mix sauce. Roast potatoes were pale and fairly tasteless. One of our party said her risotto tasted like it was a packet mix, and two of our party had a mass of gristle in their roast beef. The only vegan pudding choice was vanilla ice cream. Cannot recommend. The server was pleasant l, but no-one asked us if food was OK, and there was confusion over what was vegan/vegetarian. Table not fully laid up, and a glass was dirty.
