I will be forever grateful to Dr Stephen Corcoran. His diagnosis sent me immediately to The Royal Free which saved my life. It wasn't an easy diagnosis and others failed. Thank you

When the majority of reviews are one star you must know there is a serious care quality issue with the Speedwell GP practice. My elderly mother was treated as a patient of the practice while a resident of the Acacia Lodge Care home across the road. A doctor from the practice diagnosed her with dementia and recommended palliative care for her. However he did not order the drugs or equipment she needed to the home so they would be available for the nursing team when the time came. She declined rapidly after this. When my mother was very ill I visited the Speedwell Practice to see a doctor to arrange her care in her final days. The Doctor refused to see me or take a phone call. The receptionists were unhelpful. The doctor also did not visit my mother. The care home is across the street. He then went on leave. The day before my mother died my sister logged an urgent request via the electronic booking system for a doctor to visit. The main practice Doctor, Dr Cocoran replied by text message saying he was busy and someone would visit in two days time. When he eventually called my sister back he insisted he was still too busy to cross the street and let it be known my mother was of no importance to him because he had '20 other patients to see that day' The team leader at the care home called the practice repeatedly asking for support and recieved the same response from the same doctor. We were forced to call 999 (against this same doctor's advice) and scramble to get the required medication - medication the first doctor should have ordered for my mum when he diagnosed palliative care to make her comfortable in her last 24hrs. This was time we could have been spending with her as a family instead of rushing around trying to do the job the a doctor should have done. My mum died the next day. 24 hours before the Dr Corcoran said a doctor would see her. The e-consult system is used by the surgery to block you from speaking to anyone. The admin team are rude and unhelpful. I can only describe, the attitude of both doctors who attended my mother as INHUMANE, INSENSITIVE and INDIFFERENT. The 'care' afforded to my mother in her dying days by both doctors who dealt with her is unacceptable. My sister fed our experience back directly to the practice and has recieved no acknowledgement, condolences or response. The only contact the Dr has had with my mother was when he eventually visited to sign her death certificate.
