First of all I would say the nurses and day to day care staff at this care home were excellent. , as a family we have no complaints about them. However, I would strongly urge anyone who is considering this care home to look much deeper. They ( MHA) sell this home as a Dementia Care Home ....It is NOT . My father displayed all the most common symptoms of Vascular Dementia and after 11months they said they could no longer cope with him. Truth is this home looks great but they have no where near enough staff and if your loved one does anything other than sit in a chair the Management will tell you they fall into the high care category. They will then hit you with thousands of pounds in what they call ""TOP UP FEES " They have had a high turn over of staff and the nurses in this home are supervised with what I can only describe as a tyrannical regime. The Management of this home makes an already stressful situation for families worse... PLEASE avoid this home if your family member needs any kind of specialist care you will be wasting time and money and will only add to what we all know is probably one of the hardest decisions to make in life ...putting a loved one into care. Two months on my father has now settled into a new care home, this home have no issues with his behavior and his drug regime has been drastically reduced. To the nursing and care staff at Waterside, we want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your care and compassion. You do an amazing job in what are very difficult circumstances considering the fact that you are constantly understaffed, undermined and not supported by your 'in house' management.
