    I put a 2 star review about 5 months ago on the basis that for 3 I kept looking for this company to come out to do numerous building projects. They looked different & came across as having all the skills required for extensive building work. Having suffered from tradesmen despite visiting & contacting their previous customers giving great reviews work by many was substandard. I was very excited too see this company doing extensive work at a neighbour's house & did not detect any issues. I had one visit from them to look at flooring, joist work, ceiling removal & replacement, digging a trench through a concrete driveway & roofing work etc in 2017. Despite numerous promises to quote & do work nothing happened despite my many phone calls. Over time I brought in other contractors and again certain ones caused issues I sorted before completion. Other work had to be done such as making good deliberately damaged wooden structures in the roof & loft space as well as having to replace stairs badly put in causing people to fall going up stairs! Greyline continued to say work to be addressed, but never came out. By last year, flooring I had showed Greyline in the sitting room floor as bulging from 2017 was dug by another contractor to reveal no footings & had to be cemented in to prevent the front walls collapsing. I had asked Greyline persistently to then give a quote to make good bodged up ventilation tubes causing leaks & put up a wall to an en suite fitting a shower. I was in October over time to 1st Nov 2019 told as soon as work on another job was done then would be looking to do to by Jan 2020. Once again, they did not comeback to me & in March 2020 another contractor appointed by me addressing the bodged up ventilation pipes which caused 2 waterfalls in the lounge!! Due to lockdown the work is part done. Last year I also looked at verge work as dangerously mortar was falling to the front & side of the house. Now Greyline has seen the 2 star review & at last recently contacted me being very unhappy. They say that they have been very busy taking on over 70K & 240K jobs & due to expansion. That they finished that last job mid Feb 2020. The fact is they should have contacted me about 5 months ago to say this. Also, the ventilation work & so on was started by my other contractor mid March so Greyline could have completed the work instead of my being left in the middle due to lockdown. They also blame the lockdown too. Please be clear that the rating given was not due to any bad work by them, but poor communication within the general term customer care. For instance I had a very much bigger company with come out to look at quoting for the bodged up floor, stairs, landing etc. They actually quoted in writing & said be ready in 3 months as working on an building 12 houses on an estate. 3 months later they called me to say delayed on that work so could not do mine. They made out I had not returned their calls which was not true & admitted when I challenged it. I said no need for that as they were just covering up their embarrassment & thanked them for letting me know. They were shocked I was so positive, but I said great to see businesses doing well & great to let me know. Greyline just need to understand that communication is essential & as I said back to them I am pleased they are doing well & hope they continue to grow-accommodating everyone by communicating effectively goes a long way as any business should understand & recognising it is the nature way forward. As they have lifted the phone to communicate at last their rating is now changed to 3 stars!!!! I think is fair in the circumstances.
