The Toffee Nosed Cake Company

Ordered two birthday cakes. I gave plenty of direction both verbal and via WhatsApp photos on the design and colour. The design and taste lacked- and both cakes were delivered 30-40 mins late. Not good when you have a schedule for the day and want a fresh product. Denise was not answering any calls when I was frantic wanted updates on the whereabouts of my cake. I wouldnt have rated as low if it wasnt for the following. Denise sent an intimidating man to deliver my second and final cake. I had never met him before and he said he was her husband. I said I would have liked to have spoken to Denise before making payment due to the various problems with my order. I had saved her a slice of her lemon cake to taste. He refused and was rude and aggressive and demanded payment- like a loan shark! And so I sent my husband to deal with him and pay him as we were in the middle of a party and he had upset me! Denise sent this man intentionally as she knew there would be discrepancies and wanted to avoid such a conversation. I did politely initiate a WhatsApp chat with her afterwards- she didnt respond. Her Instagram does not match her actual product- all the hype but no backing. Worst thing is- she actively put down another local cake maker which would have given me a better price and maybe even a better product. The issues I had: The design of the lemon one didnt resemble the design or colours I wanted. The taste was disappointing. Had so much lemon curd in it that it tasted sour- actually inedible. The point of being a baker is to know how to balance flavours. I gave feedback after tasting the lemon cake and asked Denise to ensure the design for the next cake fitted my brief and tasted a lot better as I was using this for a party. She apologised that the cake didnt taste right and admitted that she didnt refer to the images I had sent her when making the cake. She said she will try to improve this on the second cake. The second cake again didnt quite match the photos I had sent- the design did not include a mixture of fresh flowers, piped, texture and sugar flowers. They were just piped. The colours used were not as requested. I sent a colour chart of the colours I wanted to match the decor. The taste however was much improved on this. Overall too many issues when you have given clear and simple instructions on the kind of cake you want. When a cake is inedible- its a non negotiable. Although Denise seemed like a lovely lady- the tactic of sending her giant aggressive husband was cheap and tacky.

Ive ordered twice from Toffee Nosed Cake Company and both have been excellent. The first was an afternoon tea set for two, the second was my partners birthday cake (single tier lemon cake). Both were delicious, well decorated and reasonably priced. Lovely business owner/s too. Well be using them again Im sure!

Stunning Afternoon Tea from the Toffee Nosed Cake Company! What a wonderful experience I had with Dennice from start to finish. Arranged for a very special lockdown birthday gift, Dennice was brilliant, she responded quickly and talked through the afternoon tea, taking into account any food requirements. And the end result was fantastic, beautifully presented, the sandwiches were sumptuous, lots of filling and lovely tasting fresh bread. And then a plethora of delicious cakes to satisfy anybodys tastes. It was very well received and talked about for the rest of the day. Id like to thank Dennice for such a wonderful service.

My wife's 65th birthday and was treated to afternoon tea by our daughter in Jersey. Our daughter chose toffee nosed cakes for this tea.couldnt have chosen better. Excellent product. Excellent service. Excellent experience. If you want something special book this company.made the day memorable

Highly professional and efficient. Delicious food served well, hand delivered by the lovely owner. Very accommodating and friendly. What more can anybody want. Will DEFINITELY ise again. Thank you very much.
