Looking forward to our visit with friends, after reading good reviews, sorry we must have arrived on a bad day, Cumberland sausage off, fish off, all rather disappointed with meals, possibly chefs day off, We were given a discount without asking but would be have preferred haveing an enjoyable meal

Not sure what has happened here. We went in for a drink. All tables were taken for food, which was fine. We asked if we could sit in the empty part of the restaurant where no tables were being used, We were told we could not they dont open that part except for Sunday, and sometimes Saturday. It was a Saturday. There was an empty 3 seater sofa we were told we could use, but there four of us. We asked for a chair to be bought next to the sofa from the empty restaurant and they said they would, but they did not. We felt like we were in the way and an inconvenience. I find it amazing that a pub is doing so well they can afford to annoy customers so much and turn down business. We left after 1 drink and went into pocklington. I won't ever go back.

Food was amazing, staff lovely but it was very cold in the building as the wood burner was not lit and there weren't any radiators in the area we were sat in. It was pouring with rain and very cold outside. I ended up putting my jacket back on to eat.
