If the bee disappears from the surface of the Earth, man would have no more than four years left to live. Albert Einstein The bee is a messenger of the Goddess and the Divine Feminine and as Albert Einstein quote implies is sacred and needs protecting. So last Sunday I attended a mind blowing bee keeping experience offered by Kerry Yeo and her husband on the edge of beautiful Yorkshire Wolds. Such a joyful experience connecting straight to the inner child, dressing up in our bee suits, seeing a baby bee being born, spotting the Queen bee tasting fresh honey from the hive. All the result of a miraculous alchemy in which bees turn the nectar of hundreds of flowers into this sweet golden elixir. Interacting with the bees was a humbling experience - as you watch thousands of individual organisms work together as a single macro-organism, you begin to understand the sense of community in a whole new way. Bees respond greatly to the energies that we put out when with them. Thus it was a very calming, mindful almost meditative experience. Finding a natural balance and harmony with nature and the world around us. The bees were so focused and somnolent in the warmth of the mellow sun, and didnt protest when Matt and ourselves (under his guidance) removed the frames of honeycomb, heavy and bulging with honey, each cell meticulously capped and sealed with wax. We really had the most wonderful afternoon. The experience totally exceeded our expectations and was an absolute joy from the moment we arrived in the apiary to the moment we left. Learning so much from Matt (an amazing teacher) - we now feel so much more knowledgeable about bees. We loved tasting the honey, and being hands on lifting frames and inspecting the hives I can thoroughly recommend it - and we were each given a gorgeous jar of their handmade creamed honey to take away. Such a beautiful experience /gift that would keep on giving especially as bee populations are in decline To honour the Earth by giving back to the bees, you could join the many individuals like Kerry and Matt who have taken up beekeeping or leave an area of your garden wild so that plants can flourish for the benefit of the bees. Create a wildflower meadow, or exchange formal flower beds and lawns for a profusion of flower varieties, especially early and late bloomers. Support small beekeepers by attending their bee keeping experiences to learn more buying local honey and bee products such as Kerry's beautiful handmade products, beeswax candles and salves. Keep bee - ing brilliant Kerry & Matt. Exceptional experience and 5 stars all the way. With love Om and out
