John Gale Landscapes

We have a relatively small garden in SW London with specific problems: surrounded by large trees and with a lot of shade which means that grass and plants are not easy to grow well. We wanted to retain as much existing paving and plants as possible to keep our costs down and were aiming to end up with a low maintenance garden with specific areas for us to sit in, and lots of space for pots whilst retaining a 'green' aspect that is welcoming to wild life. We started to talk to John after looking at his website and some of the work he has done, which we liked. We were in no hurry and talked to John over the summer. We felt John wanted to be very clear about what we wanted to achieve, he did not push us in any direction but did help us to understand some of his design principles. We went through a process of reviewing design proposals and ended up with a final design with detailed costings for every aspect. That made it easy for us to make decisions about what we wanted to spend. John started on the day agreed, his team were polite, friendly and hard working. They were careful about tidying up, did not waste anything, and were clearly experienced in carrying out this type of work. John finished on time, and we are delighted with the result. We would recommend John to anyone thinking of a redesign of their garden.

We absolutely love our garden. It has been transformed! It was a big job, changing a sloping garden into a split-level space with a large deck and a flat area for the children to play. It was designed to really suit our family, giving us everything we wanted. John and his team were meticulous and had an eye for detail, so that everything was finished to a high standard. One year on, we are still really enjoying the space and it is looking beautiful.
