Just 30 yards up from the Quay in the old part of Wivenhoe, this character Inn is in a great location. Sadly, at our time of visiting, they had no chef and so we were unable to have dinner or the breakfast included in our room rate. The landlady was very apologetic and refunded us the breakfast charge. It's a historic building across at least 4 floors. There is a covered outdoor area at the rear and a car park for two cars. The bedroom was reasonable with a comfy bed, TV and a good shower but was accessed by extraordinarily narrow, steep stairs that was more off-putting than quaint. The whole thing had little style, felt as though it had seen better days and did not feel value for money.
