Simon Hurley Guitar Tuition

I first heard Simon perform at the Writtle Jazz Festival a few year ago and thought thats how I would like to be able to play! I have been having regular lessons with him since and, though I am nowhere near his level, my playing has improved significantly (according to my fellow band members and our audiences). Simon is friendly, clear and helpful and an excellent teacher. If you want your guitar playing to improve, I strongly recommend you book lessons with him.

Im an intermediate guitarist. (i.e. used to performing and have been in a couple of jazz or blues bands). Ive been having lessons with Simon for around 18 months. We do jazz and other types of music (e.g. Ella Fitzgerald one time and Sigrid the next.) We have online lessons every two weeks, which work really well. My playing is getting much better as well as general music knowledge. Basically I can throw anything at Simon at and he knows how to deal with it. Weve had a few breakthroughs over the months! He judges my skill level and what I need to know. He sends videos and chord charts after the lesson for practice. I highly recommend him.

I have had lessons in jazz guitar from Simon for many years. He is an enthusiastic teacher who has opened the door for me into the world of jazz improvisation. Over the past year Simon has also been teaching my 9 year old grandson basic Rock Guitar with great success. Simons approach to teaching is patient, thoughtful and is driven by his enthusiasm for the music. I have seen Simon teach the most basic introductory lessons to my grandson and personally been taught advanced ideas of jazz playing. I would recommend Simon without hesitation.
