Mixed feelings about this place, worked there for 5 years, made a lot of freinds with both staff and residents but unfortunately due to restructuring and a management overhaul the overall quality of care delivery has suffered significantly for a number of reasons such as old staff being pushed out and a massive turn over of new staff resulting in inconsistent and inexperienced support workers who don't really have good knowledge/relationships with the people they support. Also new resident's being placed in totally inappropriate houses that do not meet their needs and causing much upset and distress to the people who already live there. Example: a resident with dementia being placed with a severely autistic person, causing much disruption. People with very challenging behaviers being placed with resident's who suffer from anxiety. Why you ask? To fill beds and bring in revenue. Staff support from management is very poor resulting in low morale across site (hence high staff turnover) On the plus side, i can honestly say that despite the poor working conditions, the staff that are there do strive to deliver the highest level of care possible and really do go above and beyond to make sure that all resident's needs are met as best as possible despite the challenges they (staff) face on a daily basis! What it all comes down to is extremely bad management (there are a couple of good ones) from top to bottom but despite that a work force who fight the odds to ultimately deliver a "good" level of care! To sum it all up....would i recommend this as a good place to work? Absolutely NOT! Would i recommend this as a place to let one of your family live at? Probably yes, based on what i have seen at other care homes and the pure determination of the staff providing direct care despite the uphill struggle they face on a daily basis.
