We found the Chequers to be warm, extremely welcoming, and spotlessly clean (including the loos, which I always review), with a delightful host and staff. Even the other patrons were friendly.
We were warned when we phoned that they only do "pub grub" on Sundays, rather than a roast. Didn't matter. The food was superb and quickly served.
Definitely worth a visit and, as it is less than two miles from home, we'll certainly be back.
