Played here for the 1st time today and I have to say, personally it's one of the best courses I've played in the north west. It's only a 10 hole course so holes are played twice from different tees which I thought was nice and quirky The course itself however is really well maintained and in excellent condition, it doesn't play super long which was perfect for my ability. Everyone was super friendly and it's a course I'll certainly want to go back and play again

Great little course this, with some challenges along the way. A 9 holer that can be played twice from different tees. Can have a wait too tee off at busy periods so only 4 stars for that reason.

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW: We provided an honest review of our experience. The fact that you felt compelled to completely fabricate parts of our phone conversation and suggest that threats were made to destroy your business is not only highly disturbing, but speaks to the mentality of a morally-corrupt businessman. To make such threats would have sullied our mums memorial, and thats something only you have managed to achieved so far. It is clear from your inauthentic apology, provided for the benefit of others, that you know you are in the wrong. That you have diminished our only chance to honour mum's life as a mere inconvenience further illustrates your lack of business ethos. You failed pick up a generator until after our event. It's troubling that a professional hospitality business fails to comprehend a back-up generator as compulsory for important family events/corporate functions. This would have been within your control had you truly considered your customers needs. You say it wasnt your fault, but it wasnt our fault either, and yet we had to pay full price! It would have required basic human decency and good business practice to have shouldered that cost due to power failure. Your arrogance truly knows no bounds. To clarify, no-one even uttered the word compensation, but rather a partial refund for what we paid for and didnt receive. Also interesting, in spite of having gas cookers at your disposal, the soup was still cold! The room WAS a relevant part of the package you sold to us as we discussed the bar, T.V, and seating capacity. If not, then why dont you allow customers to bring in their own catering?! You claim your team" (only one staff member aside from the cook) went above and beyond to minimize interruptions, yet she went only above and beyond making sure she was comfortable at the corner table while customers waited at the bar. Its concerning that the owner of a hospitality business is deliberately unaware of the impact your business failures have had on one of the most important and difficult days we will possibly encounter. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence will see through your excuses and get a clear image of the sort of person and businessman you are. Clearly, the only one capable of destroying your business is you! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Very disappointed with our experience at Alder Root and Paul Lander, who refused to make even the minimum in reparation. We booked the golf house for my mum's funeral reception. We checked that we'd be able to use the mounted TV for photo and video tributes. These were contributions from children who couldn't be at their nan's funeral. We booked a funeral package. On the day there was a power cut and, unbelievably, no back-up generator. Without electricity, the soup was cold and the room was gloomy. The online photos looked much better than in person and the bar area and floor was dirty. There was no lighting, no sixties music playing or photo/video tributes for mum that we had worked so hard to create. It was an afternoon event so everyone left really early because it was dark and dreary. One of the 2 staff was lovely but the other was sullen and miserable, to the point where the guests commented. She left people waiting at the bar to be served as she sat in sight of everyone at a corner table. When questioned about the wait she said she didn't like serving because it was so dark behind the bar. It was supposed to be a private event but other uninvited patrons freely came into the room and participated. No discount was offered and the owner argued that we'd paid for the food, not the room, and it wasn't his fault there had been a power cut! Imagine if this had been a costly wedding reception! Why would anyone even risk their precious day with this venue. It was very obvious from subsequent calls to the owner he couldn't care less! Paul Lander received full payment, so "he's alright jack". These are not the actions of a reasonable, considerate or responsible business owner, but rather one that's greedy, thoughtless and undeserving.
