This Post Office is in the worst location possible, and it never seems to be open when I need it! For instance, today it is closed because only 1 member of staff is trained to use the Post Office, and they are off sick. The next closest Post Office is over 10 miles away. There is absolutely no parking, there are 3 spaces which are always used by the shop staff, so theres nowhere for customers to park. That means that customers have to park in the road, causing a traffic obstruction, and slowing down the flow of traffic through Porton Village. Its a really poor location, with nowhere to park, and staff who havent been trained to use the Post Office. Dont waste your time coming here!

A few problems with this PO. I took a parcel to send to Abu Dhabi a couple of weeks ago - they happily accepted it and my money yet didnt tell me that for Abu Dhabi the address must inc the recipients phone number or it cant be delivered. Ive found this out later. The parcel cost me 15 to send. Plus Im 40 down on the missing item. I will now be making a complaint and claim via Royal Mail. Lucky that, when I sent the parcel, I saw shed not bothered to give me a proof of posting and went back in to get it. If someones spending money on expensive postage, I would expect a proof of posting to be given automatically. A couple of months ago, an important set of legal documents sent from this PO using a signed for service went missing and I had to make a claim via Royal Mail. The cost of the postage was refunded but the loss caused a lot of inconvenience and worry. It may not have been the Porton branchs fault, but for me its just one more thing. Prices for sending parcels are also much more expensive at this PO (and inconsistent) than arranging a Royal Mail parcel collection online, and you get far more tracking options online without having to pay more for a signed for service. Collection of the parcel from your home is also free if you do it online and they go via a different branch. In my experience too, over a number of years, the Porton PO staff have been a bit hit and miss with customer courtesy too and they shut the PO part of the store at lunchtimes, which has often proved to be a problem. Anyway, despite in the past wanting (and trying) to support Porton PO as a local amenity, Ive now given up with them completely and get all my PO and Royal Mail services online.
