Mat has completed multiple jobs for me and the family over the last couple years, ranging from demolishing a garage, building internal walls, boarding the loft and a full structural steel installation for a conversion. Always responsive, fair pricing, great work ethic, polite and high quality work. No question, I'll keep calling him up when I need some work doing.

Mat was recommended by a kitchen installation company. We had a leak in the kitchen and after a previous negative refit by the insurance company builders (not the kitchen) we opted to have Mat do the work. Quotes were sent to Mat via the kitchen supplier (Howdens). The quotes were always sent to us via Mat. The week before he was due to begin the installation he alerted us that he had not noticed that the kitchen worktops were quartz and not laminated. He said "we have done very well" out of the insurance claim and urged us to alter the design to not include the quartz worktops as he had failed to notice the cost? Remember it was Mat that had to pass on the quotes to us so the error was his. I wanted to cancel him but I listened to my wife and accepted his apologies. The work began. Mat for whatever reason did not communicate with us and we had to keep asking him about the installation. The insurance adjuster and Polygon, the company sent to install dehumidifiers and fans advised all the floors should be screed.May did not do this. The other work carried out by him in the adjacent downstairs toilet was appalling. To save on space in this review I can forward the evidence of the list of issues I would like to make people aware of. Because of his lack of communication we opted to retain 5% of the final installment. This has been used for payment to other builders to make good on the work that was far below expected standards. I write this review ot because of the above mentioned issues but because we discovered a leaking pipe behind the newly installed sink unit. The boiler condensation pipe had been drilled into when Mat was making a hole for the dishwasher pipes to go through. It has been leaking several pints of water every day. It has made its way across the kitchen, under the flooring and has damaged the laminate flooring in the hallway. We are now having to pay thousands of pounds to have all of their sorted, something the insurance company have advised us to claim for, however, not before contacting Rural and County Builders ltd to recover the costs! We will not be doing this as a legal representative has advised it would probably be ver costly to pursue this through the courts. You can make your own mind up about this company and I will be happy to forward photos of his work and damage.
