I wish I could leave as glowing a review as the other reviews here (which is why I booked). The good things: Janz (the owner) is extremely nice and helpful. My room was very quiet and clean, the bed was very comfortable, and there was a nice walk I could do from the lodge itself. What I wish I had read in other reviews: - The room I stayed in was not one you would want to spend any amount of time in. The only view I had of the lake was if I stood by the window and craned my head. The room itself was very small, with only a bed and a small wooden chair, and the sitting room was closed due to Covid, so I had no place to lounge or relax. - Bowness-on-Windermere is not very 'picturesque' - compared to other towns and villages in the Lake District, it was decidedly average, with no good restaurants within walking distance (just typical pubs, Thai, Chinese, pizza - nothing like the nice restaurants and bars in other town in the Lake District). I left after one night.
