Richard is a fantastic tutor with endless enthusiasm and the patience of a saint! I attended a couple of 1-1 lighting lessons where everything was explained in great detail, at a level that was appropriate to my knowledge. I felt I could ask any question at anytime and was given the freedom to experiment with everything and try out anything I wanted to. Richard also mentored me through the final year of my degree and was incredibly supportive. In our studio sessions, he was there to guide me and give the extra push when I needed it. He definitely made photography fun again. When I passed my degree and was nominated for an award for my degree work I think he was more thrilled for me than I was myself. I would not hesitate to recommend Richard as a tutor to anyone at any level.

I cannot praise Richard Weston Photography Group highly enough, yes, this is a photography class, however, it is so much more. Richard has encouraged, motivated and supported me in all my photography endeavours. He has shown me that photography is so much more than using and getting familiar with a camera lenses ect..He has taught me that my photography should come from the heart, that each image tells a unique story..,..it's not about producing images to please others, it's about what pleases me, what ' feels ' right, that's not to say I haven't learnt a lot about the " technical" side of photography, I have, something I never thought I would ever be able to do, Richard has a knack of passing on his knowledge in a relaxed, patient way, so much so, I didn't realise how far I had come until recently....his lessons are always creative and fun! Richard unique style of teaching is so understated, friendly, professional and relatable, he challenges us with various projects, which can be tough, but always rewarding and fun. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his classes to anyone, from the complete beginner to the experienced, whatever level, if you're interested in photography, you will benefit from his ' open, creative, encouraging and supportive style....

Richard Weston's group photography classes are really excellent, from teaching the basics up to advanced studio work. His classes are both interesting and inspiring and push you into creating your best work. The groups are friendly and supportive. I would also recommend the structured mentoring that he offers for when more focussed or specialised training is wanted.

I joined one of Richards photography classes in Autumn 2019 and it has been one the best decisions I made. His enthusiasm, professionalism and skill as both a photographer and teacher has been superb, particularly when faced with conducting most of the last year's photography classes over Zoom. For this he provided expert video tutorials and set us challenging assignments that have stretched us both technically and creatively. As a result my photography has improved greatly. He has encouraged us to try new aspects of photography, some of which I would never have considered trying. From photographing oil on water, glasses using coloured lighting, panning, self portraiture, macabre photography, product photography, shoes, food, night time lighting/long exposure, video, pictorialism and fine art to name just a few, he takes us outside of our comfort zones and stretches us as photographers. He has provided masterclasses in editing which, for someone who never considered editing before, has transformed my photography. He has also conducted fine art masterclasses in the studio, in which we gained an invaluable understanding of studio lighting and working with a model. All of this has been achieved in a friendly supportive, non-judgemental environment. I cannot praise Richard highly enough as the weekly classes have been a real highlight in a difficult year. I look forward to many more challenges and fun as we head into the light during 2021.
