Good facilities; two ensuite bedrooms, washing machine, dish washer and microwave, in addition to expected features. However, needed clearer instructions on how to use oven, some dining chairs rather worn and some extra cutlery (tea spoons and knives) would be beneficial. Lodge, bedding and towels all very clean. The complex is well maintained, but a facility for children would have been helpful.

Very Impressed! The lodge is absolutely beautiful, tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. The hosts were very friendly and there are wonderful touches like chocolates on the pillows, milk in the fridge and a welcome drink. The kitchen is really well equipped, and they really have thought of everything - there are little laminated signs explaining the shower and TVs, etc, and there is even an emergency stash basket with items like toothbrushes, toothpaste and ketchup available in exchange for leaving a donation and a note of what you took, in case you forget anything. (The TVs are mostly smart TVs so remember your Netflix/BBC account passwords, etc). The surroundings are lovely, dotted along the paths there are picnic areas, BBQs and community shared bikes you can use. Its a very easy walk down to the boardwalk where there is a nice selections of shops and places to eat (dont forget your key fob as you need this to get through the pedestrian gate too), we went mid week out of season and most things on the boardwalk werent open late, so check times before you venture down. Theres also a little shop on site for essentials and within a 5 minute drive there is a small Waitrose one way and a small Sainsburys in the garden centre the other way. The whole site is dogs on leads, apart from the dedicated park area which is also just a short walk from the lodge itself (walk back out the way you drove in and the entrance is by some satellite dishes and the second dog bin you pass), theres a nice childrens play area here too. There are also some lovely longer walks by the canal (the Mercia Marina website has maps of these). The only slight downside was that the mattresses are quite thin, and we were using the third bedroom as a bedroom not a games room, but there isnt anywhere to hang clothes or a bedside table, even a couple of hooks on the door or wall would be useful for a hanger or two - this obviously wouldnt really be a problem for kids or if you were using it as the games room though. We predominantly chose the lodge for wheelchair accessibility (and being dog friendly!), and I would say its fantastic for a fairly independent wheelchair user as there are plenty of handles and the wet room is great, however, we had a family member who required more assistance and found the toilet in the corner quite tight. We did have to shift some of the furniture over to fit a wheelchair through, but this was easy enough. We bought our own profiling bed converter which worked well, but as the beds are very close to the floor we couldnt fit a return underneath which made it a bit tricky. It would also be nicer for wheelchair users if there was a threshold ramp from the patio doors onto the decking. Overall, it really is a lovely place that felt like a home from home, and the whole site has a lovely relaxed, holiday atmosphere - we were very impressed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others!

We had such a wonderful time at the lodge, staying for a long weekend. We have 6 adults and a dog and there was plently of space for us all. The lodge has everything you need, was presented to a high standard. It has great enclosed wrap around balcony and great outdoor seating. We were all really impressed. The location is really sweet, it's within a gated marina with shops and restaurants, lovely walks along the canal and it's all presented to nicely. A great little breakaway for anyone.
