An amazing team of people to work with and alongside, putting not only the residents needs at the heart of everything but also the staffs. No two days are the same, I feel I am constantly learning new things every day. I couldn't recommend this company more if I tried to work for xx

I am a recent employee at howosn care centre and i was there for 5 years. During my time at howosn the staff there are just amazing they are so supportive with each other and give the best care, the management are amazing, I have worked in alot of care homes and the management at howson are above and beyond, I had some family issues that I needed to deal with and the management let me have quite some time off with my position still open when I return. Anytime I or any other staff need support the management are always there to help and support. By far the best care home I have ever worked in and it will always hold a special place in my heart thank you howson for everything

David passed away, yesterday, 24th July 2021, at 9pm, having suffered Alzheimer's for about 18 years. How lucky for myself and David that we found Howson's. His care has been second to none. The staff are brilliant, kind, caring and Conscientious. For the past three days, when we all knew he was going, they never left him alone for a second, one of the staff sitting beside his bed, holding his hand to comfort him. A particular thanks to Denise, Shelby, Aynsley, Steph and Steve who cared for David over the past few days. I think they have shed as many tears as me! My partner David has been at Howson's for almost four years and is now in the last stages of dementia and is only 74. He had been in three homes prior to Howsons, the first very near to home and was admitted there in 2011. When this home couldn't manage him - in their words "meet his needs", we then found another home which, initially we thought was great. How wrong we were - he began to suffer dramatic weight loss and, once again, became a nuisance so eventually they "could not meet his needs"! Both these homes were supposed to be qualified in caring for people suffering with dementia. We then moved him to "hell on earth" in Lincoln. He lasted about four weeks there. Within a week he had terrible oedema of his legs which they had failed to treat. Then, shortly after, he had a fall at 11pm, when they just put him in his bed. After him screaming in pain and being unable to get out of his bed, they eventually called an ambulance after 5am and he had fractured his hip! Needless to say, I refused to allow David to return there. After a few weeks in Witham Court for assessment. I was told I had to find another home. At this time, he finally qualified for full funding with a carer assigned to him for 16 hours a day due to him now at risk of falling. No local homes wanted him - he was very mobile, doubly incontinent, very strong and aggressive when staff had to see to his personal needs. His social worker recommended Howson Care Home but we were not keen due to a bad review by CQC and the fact that it was a 32 mile round trip for me. Finally, because no care home was prepared to take David, I went and viewed Howson. It was the BEST decision I have ever made. His care is superb, I never have to worry about him. They never know when I am going to visit but he is always clean, well dressed, shaven and now weighs 12.5 stone. At one point, in the second home, he left weighing 8.5 stones! I absolutely know that, left in any of the previous homes, he would not be alive today. David is not in the Dementia Unit but is in the Main House which caters for adults with very demanding needs. They could well move him over to the Dementia side now as he is totally immobile and not so volatile but they have promised me he will stay where he is until he dies. They genuinely care for him. In the Main House, the residents are always being taken out, shopping, the pub etc. and the grounds are amazing. The CQC have just assessed this amazing home and, once again, given them a bad review??? After reading their preliminary review, I wrote to them complaining regarding their views on the home. Bearing in mind their assessment is done over a few hours. I have spent countless hours at Howson's, viewing how the staff are with the residents who are often very demanding. I have never seen any staff loose their patience and not be anything but kind and helpful. It must be very demoralising for the lovely staff to be not given the credit they are due by the CQC. The CQC acknowledged receipt of my email to them and said they would "get back to me within 10 day". I have never had a response from them. If I had to rate the CQC, I would not even give them 1.
