My wife has just returned after having afternoon tea at Cafe Roux and was very disappointed with what she had. She said the scones were cheap and dry & was served with spray cream with cheap jam. The sandwichs were also not very nice and the price she paid for this was way over the top. She just felt she had be ripped of and took for a fool. I dont think she and her friends will go there again.

I booked 4 afternoon teas on Saturday 22 April i have never been so disappointed with a afternoon tea especially as we paid 20 each. I visit your cafe quite often and the food is always very good so i dont understand why your afternoon tea was so appalling. The cakes were not the ones you offer in your counter of which i expected. The scones were definitely shop bought and cold( they should have been warm as stated on your menu) the cream was spray cream and should have been clotted cream. The variety of cakes were like school traybake cakes possibly from Aldi. They were also not home made, chocolate brownie/ sponge traybake with icing/ & a mini trifle of which i have never known on a afternoon tea. The nicest items on the tea were not cakes ie fresh strawberries and macarons. If you were going for a old school afternoon tea it should be stated on your menu, and should be much cheaper. We all feel totally ripped off and taken for fools as we know the difference between homemade and shop bought!! I never usually write a bad review as i support local business i hope this was a one off and a bad day. The staff were excellent and the vibe was very good, but the food was very disappointing.
