I thought it was about time that I wrote a review about Bridgewater Homecare (Wigan) how they have improved the quality of care for my wife as well as the support that they have given me over the last 2 years. I would like to start by thanking Bridgewater for really giving me and my wife our lives back, before Bridgewater I was on allocated care from the council. From day to day I had no idea who or if anyone was going to turn up to help. Over a five-year period, I used over five different care agencies and had no choice with whomever the council decided to use. I was forever on the phone to social services complaining about the service I was receiving from these different care agencies. Eventually I think I wore social services down and they put me on direct payment and told me to sort out my own care provider, which I did. I chose Bridgwater, I had a meeting and told them what I was looking for, My main concern was having the same carers every day, as my wife suffers from advanced dementia, When I first started with Bridgewater, they flooded me with carers around 30 in total. After completing around 30 days, Bridgewater arranged a meeting and asked me, out of all the carers who were the best with my wife. There were two carers that every time my wife seen them, her face lit up and she was so happy and comfortable with them, so they became regular carers and they are still here over 2 years later. I now have 4 regular carers and my wifes face still lights up. Because of the carers our lives have changed dramatically, I am so comfortable with them that I have no issues going on nights out, taking the carers on holidays with me and my wife, I just leave them to get on with anything that needs to be done. The things that has improved our lives so dramatically is knowing the freedom that we have to just say lets go here today, jump in the car and go out for the day going to a Zoo, Shopping or just a drive to a restaurant. This was impossible on my own. On one occasion I was in a lot of pain in my stomach, I put up with the pain refusing to go hospital because I was worried about what would have happened to my wife if they were to keep me in. The carers were telling me to go to hospital and they would take care of my wife, but I was still too stubborn to go, after ten days of pain one of the carers told me to get in the car for her to take me to hospital or she would phone for an ambulance as she could not bear to see me in anymore pain. She took me to hospital and I was admitted, I was so worried about my wife and the carer told me not to worry as she would look after her. Both carers took great care of my wife, looking after her 24/7 until I got home. I was unable to do any physical work and Bridgewater automictically, changed all of my wife's visit to double ups to make sure that I stayed rested. I booked a rest bite at a disabled hotel called, Safe Hands, in Llandudno where both carers came with me to look after my wife while I rested as per the Doctors instructions. All four of us had a brilliant time and I had the rest bite I needed and cant thank them both enough. I can name several occasions where if it was not for Bridgewater and the care team, I could not have done any of the things that I have been able to do over the last 2 years, just to name a few, 2 Army reunions, 3 rest bites, christenings and all the days out we have had together. During the last nine months being on lock down with the Covid crises, we have still managed to get a few days out and keep my wife entertained at home. These are trying times and you really need the support, and that is exactly what I get from Bridgewater Home Care and especially from the carers. If you are looking for a care provider or even a new care provider because you are not happy with the care you are receiving, then please give Bridgewater ago, I can honestly say, you wont be disappointed.

Bridgewater have been caring for my mum for a few years now, and I have nothing but praise for them, for Grace, Caroline, Carol and Jen, nothing is too much trouble for them, and the office ladies have gone out of their way to accommodate the changes that we have had to make, sometimes at very short notice, but mums needs have changed and it looks like I will have to find a different agency which I am very disappointed about.
