St Michael & All Angels

I'm not a particularly religious person but I do like history and old buildings. Churches size and sheer presence tended to reflect the affluence of its constituency and looking at the houses in the area and their age (At least some) you can see how this fairly local church has so much grandeur. It's big and seems to be in great condition. I wandered in one afternoon and it's just as nice on the inside. The gardens are also very well kept.

Service and Burial of my beloved sister Denise (family nick name Budgie ) here on Friday12th November 2021, she was 1 of 17 siblings born and raised in Denton, Manchester. I am not a church goer, we were very poor, Saturdays and Sundays were for scrubbing, cooking and washing clothes. However, if I were a church goer, this would be my first port of call. Stan the Vicar, or as we have christened him in our usual familial way (Stan the Man) was wonderful, caring and down to earth, you knew he loved his job and believed in it. If I lived in Wigan, this would become my church. My sister Denise would have been very happy with the turnout on this sad occasion, of the 14 surviving brothers and sisters, 12 of them and their sons/daughters/wives/husbands managed to negotiate the nightmare that is Wigans roads and torrential rain.
