Terrible customer service! We arrived at the Newcastle airport branch at 19:30 to be told by unfriendly and 'hangry' employee that my credit card was not accepted as it only required a signature. This was not my fault as I had used exactly the same credit card with exactly the same conditions at exactly the same Green Motion office 3 months earlier. Difference was that the office manager served us in February 2023 ( excellent service!). I have also used the same credit card with other car hire companies and never experienced any discrepancies. After I explained politely to employee Mr M. that my credit card has a PIN (compulsory) and I can give this to him, he said his system only shows authorisation with a signature but 'unfortunately' he could not show me any proof of this and we have to pay 200 extra cover. I had already paid extra and booked with excess cover so ! He also guilt-tripped us by saying his manager would get the sack as he should not have accepted my credit card in February. As we were reliant upon the rented car at 8pm, we paid the 200 extra but wanted to check the car before signing for it. The employee said he closed at 8pm, we should check it quickly with our phone torches. He made no attempt to help us and stayed behind the counter in the office. It was dark outside & difficult to see any possible damage as the car was also extremely dirty. As I went back to report 2 unnoted scratches, employee Mr M. got very irate and stated that, due to my surname, it is clear that I know about Ramadan and I am deliberately holding him back from breaking his fast! Totally unprofessional, intimidating & unhelpful customer service with very dubious methods of payments. We will never use Green Motion at Newcastle Airport again. An official complaint was filed but the company refused to accept any responsibility nor offered apologies for terrible customer service from Mr M.

I was given the keys to the car when it was dark and raining. No inspection was carried out on the car and I was told to go my way. It was impossible for me to have a good look at the car. I was also not given any basic instructions on how to use the car. When I handed it back, I cleaned the car, made sure I parked it in a private drive away from people, and looked after the car perfectly. All of a sudden a scratch was shown. One I didnt notice before as it was to the rear of the car and I never use the back seats. This scratch was light in nature and had a gap in the middle. I was charged 317 for this tiny light scratch which I know I did not cause. The financial and mental stress this caused me was very upsetting. I feel taken advantage as a young woman travelling alone and told them upon arrival I was tired some and needed help with the process. Their due care was not met. They will target anyone they think is vulnerable. Do not let them bully you like they did me. Edit. Although they claim I had till 10am the next day what I was told by the receptionist was completely different. I was advised the second i leave I am liable for anything seen on the car. Again I was alone, it was dark and raining. No one took me to the car or looked at the car with me. I stupidly trusted the company.
