Always had great service from the surgery, never having a problem getting appointments. Its refreshing to get through on the phone, without having to stay on hold for long periods of time. Receptionists could be tad more friendly, but given the strains they must be under, it can be understood...

No help at all. Want a doctors appointment for next week and can't get it. Had an appointment today turns out it's with a nurse and they did not want to listen to the issue or fix it. They do not care about the patients in their care, they just want to meet the quota. Absolutely disgusting. Even better that the next nearest decent doctor is a minimum of 15 minute drive away which due to circumstances means I'm stuck with this non caring surgery.

This is worse surgery ever. Some receptionists there are useless and rude making sarcastic comments and having assumptions without letting you even explain anything (but not all of them). I have been messed around with medication that I needed urgently while I was pregnant, I have been messed around with appointments, and refused appointment with a midwife although the midwife was available and she ended up booking the appointment herself for me just because the receptionist simply refused telling me she was not there. I sent an official complaint about a month ago and didnt receive any response at all. I will now take this further. I have no idea why some people are doing this kind of jobs but are not caring.

I had an appointment with Dr Hussain and I must say she was brilliant. Very competent and most importantly she is very caring and listens to your concerns. I really wish there were more GPs like this. Arguably the best GP appointment I have had for years. I really hope she stays at Whitwell. She easily gets 5 stars. I have seen another doctor who was quite curt and lacked empathy. Moreover, she rushed a telephone consultation when I had genuine debilitating issues which meant I was struggling to get into work. The young male pharmacist is also brilliant and actually has chatted to me on a few occasions about the medication I take showing genuine interest. The other pharmacists are good too and get requests dealt with promptly despite clearly being overloaded at times. I only give this review 4 stars due to the curt doctor I mentioned previously and it is just so difficult to get a face to face appointment at times. At my last surgery (Stevenage) you could go onto the online system and book appointments in advance and also select the doctor. Here there is just quite a convoluted system to get a face to face appointment. Overall though I have had a good experience with the staff I have encountered at Whitwell and they do a great job. Another mention is the phlebotomist who was superb. Very kind and caring.

I would like to thank Fran for everything she did to help me out yesterday and today. She went out of her way to get the issue sorted, despite the fact there were no doctors on site. i really appreciate you going out of your way to help me. You were a life saver. You will definitely be my first point of call in the future.
