Solar instal has been a 9 month journey and should be up for 25 years - so important to get it right.
TB Electrics get great reviews and I had a lot of confidence the job would be professionally undertaken.
I am pleased with the electrical work undertaken. Electricians and admin staff were very professional and instilled trust and confidence.
I would recommend TB Electrics, definitely the most professional installer I came across.
To provide a balanced review and to be transparent around issues with my installation I would highlight the following:
1. The plan of where the solar panels would be placed on my roof was inaccurate and I pointed this out to TB Electrics. There was an extension which was not shown on their plan despite being built 5 years earlier. I observed where the sun fell on the roof over winter months and gave clear instruction as to where the panels were to be sited. Unfortunately, the scaffolding was not situated in the correct position meaning the roofer could not safely put panels on the roof where I had requested. I pointed this out to TB Electric whilst the scaffold was still up. I spoke with a member of TB Electric team who suggested that moving the panels would make minimal difference as I already had too much capacity and moving them would be at my cost. This may have been true in the summer months but has a much bigger impact on solar generation in the winter months. The roofer is independent of TB Electric, roofer had minimal interaction with customer in terms of where the panels could go as the scaffolders were not on site to move them.
2. A firm date could not be given for erection/removal of scaffolding meaning organising bird protection was difficult and has not happened - see pigeon in photo. So I now have additional cost of installation.
Getting the panels in the correct location and protected is the most important aspect of the install as it is costly to do roof work safely.
Damage to panels from pigeons or loss of sunlight to panels in winter months should be avoided.
In summary, as others say below there are issues with all installs. The above just provides some things to look out for. TB Electric are professional installers. I would have given 5 stars but the position of the panels cant be overlooked and pigeon protection is a must as it will just increase payback period of system. Primarily issues experienced are due to third party contractors used by TB Electrics.
