A few years ago I was finding it unbearably painful to walk, I saw my GP, and physio/chiropractor and no-one knew what was wrong.; My GP referred me to Dev Mahadevan, who in turn involved Nick Gallogly. After surgery, adapted trainers and insoles my life has changed completely, I can run, and workout in the gym without pain. I can go for a walk without thinking about what I want to do that night and tomorrow. After a couple of hard years in the gym, and running the insoles and trainers wore out. Without thinking I arranged to see Nick again; I am now the proud owner of new trainers and insoles which will allow me to continue training comfortably for another few years. I cannot recommend the Reading Foot and Ankle Unit enough. Before I could not walk around an airport without crying in pain, now I can run a 5K and attend F45.

I had seen physios, podiatrists and a couple of foot and ankle specialists before seeing Nick Gallogly and was so relieved when I met with him and finally got some answers and results for my tendon problem. He put me at ease, understood the effect that the situation was having on me physically and emotionally, was honest and informative throughout. Through conservative treatment I was able to be pain free at night and more understanding of my limitations to my walking. He made me two pairs of orthotics, one pair for wearing most of the time and another smaller pair that I wore in less robust shoes. They made a huge difference to my ability to walk and be comfortable. Nick also introduced me to Dev Mahadevan to discuss the option of surgery which based on all of the information given I decided against at that time. A year later, the day to day management of the damaged tendon got to the stage where I was ready for surgery. Nick got me in touch with Dev Mahadevan again and he talked me through what needed to be done to help me. Again I was reassured and felt confident as well as fully supported by the whole team. The surgery, the after care, everything was so good and I couldn't be happier with the results. I highly recommend them and am pleased to have discovered such a welcoming, knowledgeable, supportive and caring team of experts.
