Stayed at The Shippen in early February. I was visiting the area to see an exhibition in Plymouth. It was quiet and peaceful while being an easy 30 minute drive into town. The cottage is very well equipped with entertainment, books, games and everything you need in the kitchen. The welcome basket with cream tea, bread, eggs and milk in the fridge was a lovely touch. The underfloor heating and sensor lighting in the bathroom were probably my favourite bits of the house! It felt very luxurious. I also appreciated the mirror near the socket in the bedroom. The refurbishment was obviously well planned, with consideration given to being able to dry your hair in the mirror :) It might sound trivial but I've stayed in so many places where this was a problem. Close to Drakes Trail and Dartmoor Way. Tavistock is nearby with everything you need. I'm looking forward to staying again!

Lovely cottage in Devon near Travistock. Shops like Tesco, Lidl and Morrisons are close by. The cottage was great and offers a lot of homely comfort. The bathroom was nice and warm thanks to the underfloor heating. There is also a dryer in the garage easy if you want to dry yourre loundry in a quick way. The owners are friendly and even came over when we had a broken hooverbag. Surroundings are beautiful and there is a bike/walking route near by in fact it is so near that you need only ten steps to acces it, only downside is that you can not acces it from the grounds, this piece of land is owend by the residents of the Manor and is there for not for guests of the Shippen. To acces the walkingroute you must cross the A386 road or take a detour around the Estate grounds/fields. This is a big downside of the stay at Grenofen especially if you have dogs like us and love to walk. The cottage itself is great however the acces to the beautiful surroundings are less. We stayed for one week sept 2019.

We spent a perfect week at The Shippen and loved every moment despite the weather not being perfect. On arrival we instantly felt relaxed, the welcoming bread, scones, jam and clotted cream were much appreciated after our journey. The Shippen is a true home from home in a lovely private setting which is in a superb location for exploring Devon. It genuinely had everything we could ever need and more. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. The flow of the kitchen into the comfortable living room made it the perfect holiday home for us. A truly cosy, clean, well maintained cottage in a great location. Our first experience of Dartmoor? (where the famous ponies roam free) We loved the views from the kitchen/ living room. We hired bikes from the town, enjoyed the Drakes Trail cycle path. Enjoyed the pub at the end of the bike ride even more! The bathroom at The Shippen was outstanding, whilst we have stayed in many 5 star hotels none of which have ever had an equally luxurious bathroom. It was a real treat. Prompted us to update our own ensuite back home! Very close to Tavistock, loved the historic town centre just a short drive away. Shushbit of a well-kept secret, so lovely to walk around with its good mix and cafes, shops etc. Luckily despite it being half term it was never too busy or over crowded. Thanks for a wonderfully relaxing holiday, without doubt we will return. A true 5* experience.
