Visited Scrivens for an eye test. They decided to do a hearing test a classic case of cross-selling. Having focused their attention on the fact that I was expecting an eye test they proceeded to test my field of vision. The equipment was set up uncomfortably and out of adjustment with the seat. Having completed that test I was shown into another room to see the optician. A rather unpleasant woman who lacked the skills to treat customers. Again everything was out of position leaving me to strain for her to use the slit lamp instrument with her complaining when I steadied myself on the table. She tested the pressure within my eye (usually this is tested with a jet of air to measure the deflection of the cornea) when I asked how her no contact device works she clearly did not have a clue. She proceeded to test my eyes but was unsuccessful claiming that my eyes were inconsistent insisting that I needed a second appointment for her to dilate my eyes. In the reception area I enquired what the opticians qualifications were (Optometrists or Ophthalmologists) only to receive a curt response - Birmingham. I subsequently cancelled the appointment and have since visited a proper ophthalmologists optician where I have received, excellent care and a professional service.

Great service from the three ladies 25th February. One lady, whose mum had just had a cataract operation, was very patient with my mum. They even had a dog treat - for Joey, not my mum!

Went to scrivens for glasses, they tested my eyes and said I have a complicated prescription and that glasses would be over 800+ but could give a bit of discount, took the prescription to Poole Asda and they did 2 pairs of glasses for 50 and said they said they would be over 800+ each at some opticians, I found the Asda glasses were very good, opticians must be making a lot of profit, 800+, it's only 2 bits of glass & a little frame, 800+ is as much as I spend on food in a year or 3 large 4k televisions, so shop around,
