Looking for a rapidly growing, family-friendly Church in Weymouth? St John's is a warm, welcoming community of followers of Jesus - of all ages, led by Rev Tom Coopey, supported by his wife Susie who is also part of a great leadership team. You can't miss the tall spire right on the sea front - and you will regularly see people being baptised in the sea! Main Sunday service at 10.30am is informal, family-friendly (Sunday School most weeks), with worship songs led by a band, and really excellent Bible teaching about God's love, life-changing faith, finding hope in Christ, practical answers to situations, and seeing the power of the Holy Spirit released in our lives. For those who like a more traditional style of worship, there is a sung service at 9am. Big emphasis on being Good News in the community, making a difference, showing practical love through a wide range of social action projects that the Church is deeply committed to such as Food Bank, Christian Against Poverty, night shelter for the homeless in Winter months, youth projects, lunch clubs, Street Pastors etc. Church members are also deeply involved in a range of national and global initiatives. The Church works really closely with other churches across the town, of many different denominations and traditions, and is part of an extended parish of 5 Anglican Churches with many shared activities scubas youth ministry. The Church also has close links with New Wine, and (if you like labels) is evangelical and charismatic. Parking is available onsite with good disabled access - but try to arrive in good time as the car park is very busy on Sundays! Other activities run in Hope House (adjacent former Vicarage) and Park Community Centre.
