The Patisserie course last Saturday was an absolute joy! We worked through making Danish pastries with a butter enriched yeast dough, dainty macarons and cream filled choux buns and eclairs. Emma and Linda led us from 9.30am till 4.00pm through the processes, explaining and demonstrating carefully all the techniques we then tried - I have cooked for many years and finally conquered my fear of the forcing bag! And did I mention the delicious lunch?

I recently took part in the patisserie cooking course day at Mrs Portly's kitchen with Linda and Emma. It was absolutely amazing and made food i had never made before. It was a very laid back and intimate and was made to feel at ease. Linda made us all a very tasty lunch and dessert too Cannot wait to book onto another class.

Linda and Emma were very welcoming. We got stuck in straight away - all day it was hands on which is the best way to learn! I have never made patisserie before but found Emma's step by step guidance very easy to follow. The recipes we made were very tasty - and very much enjoyed at home! We also enjoyed a delicious home made lunch which had locally sourced ingredients or provided from the garden that is cared for by Linda's husband. A big thank you - to the lady who washed up and kept us topped up with clean utensils! Highly recommend this fun but relaxed course. I've already booked onto my next one!

Thoroughly enjoyed the World Breads one-day course on 1 April. I'm not an accomplished baker, and I found the instruction and hands-on practical experience invaluable. Linda is a very patient tutor as well which made me feel at home. I've tried one of the more complex bakes on my own - the Tangzhong Hot Cross Buns - and they all disappeared very quickly once baked. The aroma as they came out of the oven was unbelievably good!

Had a lovely Saturday learning how to make Strirato, flatbreads, hot cross buns and cornbread. All tasted great, but the hot cross burns were the favorite . Would heart recommend Mrs Portlys kitchen James Harbidge
