Portland Dorset Tours & Excursions

What a wonderful way to spend a day on the Jurassic Coast. Our tour guide Danny was personable and funny and went out of his way to show us places of interest. This is just the way to experience the area with a local flare. Bravo for a job well done !

We did the Stonehenge & Salisbury Cathedral Shore Excursion and loved every moment of it! Our tour group was led by Terri and there were only 4 guests (including us), so our tour was incredibly personal and easily customized to what we wished to see an do. Since we all arrived early, we departed early and made it to Stonehenge before all of the tour groups booked by our cruise line arrived. At Stonehenge, we explored on our own. For us, visiting Stonehenge was a "bucket list" item so we didn't spend too much time on the exhibit or the audio tour. Since she's a local to Portland, Terri also drove us around Portland and took us to the overlooked gems and photo opportunities of the Island that tour buses wouldn't be able to access. That evening on ship the other three parties at our dinner table shared stories of what they had seen and done in Portland. They had all booked tours through the cruise line, versus our independent tour with Dorset Tours. Everyone at the table marveled at the adventure we had gone on, and the sights we had seen, and the things we had learned along the way. Next time I'm in Portland, I will DEFINITELY book another tour or excursion with Dorset Tours.

Due to some last minute travel changes, we were in the area without transportation, so I inquired about a private tour for me and my two nieces. Thankfully, they were able to schedule a private tour for us, and it was fantastic. Danny was our tour guide and driver, and he brought us to so many great locations and filled us in on so many things we would never have known about the area. He was friendly, informative, and kept us laughing. Both me and my teenage nieces agreed by the end of our England trip that our tour with Danny was the highlight of the vacation! Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!

Daniel is a knowledgeable and truly delightful guide whose love for the region is evident in how passionately he shares all the rich and varied history and culture that makes Dorset so special. Im a very independent traveller but I was glad to have hired a private tour of Dorset and the south coast with him. There is so much to see, much on narrow, hedge-lined windy roads, that one couldnt possibly cover as much ground as you will with a guided tour with Dan. If youre visiting the area - or even if you live in Dorset! - do yourself a favour and book a tour with Dorset Tour on Portland.
