My partner and I are probably the youngest holiday home owners on this site by a good ten years, but we still feel very welcome. For me, it's a family tradition - my grandparents have also owned a bolthole on this site for over 25 years, which speaks to how much we adore the site and location - the love of it now stretches three generations. Four, with my little one! For us, it's our sanctuary away from our busy city lives, and so we love that the site is quiet, friendly, and private - owners & friends/family of owners only, no subletting. The owners of the site are friendly and helpful, and the site is extremely dog friendly. The location is great - depending on what you want. We love the views, the walks on the long, largely untouched local beach, and a short drive away you have several good towns with a huge variety of great pubs. We recently welcomed a little one, and there's plenty nearby to entertain them. Weston has improved a great deal in the last decade, but strike out a little further and you'll find a wealth of lovely places to visit beyond the obvious. If you're shopping around, some small site pros and cons: -- It already has electric car chargers; forward thinking. -- It's small, which means it's close knit, which is lovely. -- Caravans run on gas bottles, not mains - which means it's slightly more expensive, but also you can't 'leave it running', as on some other sites - everything should be shut off completely every time you leave for an extended period, ie to go home. We've got Hive Heating installed, for instance, but you can't set it to heat up when you leave home so it's warm when you arrive, as the gas won't be on to fire the boiler. -- The site is closed for 3 months of the year - which is fine, though I wish it were only two, as it is beautiful around here in the crisper months, and new caravans have central heating & double glazing, and so are liveable even in colder months. Some sites only close for a week or two for legal purposes, and I understand closing for longer - especially in a more isolated location like this - but we'd still brave it for longer if it were open! -- It's a bit of a 4G/5G blackspot, so if you want internet it's a bit of a run-around (but it is possible). -- For better or worse, the site has no 'entertainment' facilities - no clubhouse, social club or the like, and while there used to be live-in wardens there are no longer. The only shared facilities are washing machines & dryers. There is a building that one day could be used for that purpose, but as it stands there's nothing like that right now. However, there is a decent sense of community - people were decorating and outside in deck chairs for the Jubilee and things like that. For a quiet sanctuary away from everything, though, it can't be beat. We love it here.
