I'm a small business owner who's financial circumstances dramatically changed long before COVID entered the picture. One year ago, just before the pandemic really hit us all, I was searching for an accountant who would take me by the hand and walk me through a MOUNTAIN of receipts and financial records of income and expenditures. I put feelers out among the many small business groups I'm involved in on social media, and several folks responded. But one stuck out above and beyond, and that was Neil Criddle of Neil's Data Consultancy, LTD. Why? Because he was the only one who directly responded and asked when was a convenient time for him to come to my home and have a consultation. His only pay that day was a nice hot cuppa. :-) I can't tell you how worried I was, regarding that scary mountain of paperwork that I knew would be so daunting. But he didn't even bat an eye at it. He sat behind me on my sofa in my office whilst I sat at my computer, pulling up all the records he needed to get the job done. We worked together as a team, as if we've been working together for years, and we just that day met in person! I did have all the information he required to get my taxes done, but it was scattered in a variety of folders stored on my computer or in piles of files in my records, and in many different forms. In fact, he was quite impressed with how well I kept my financial records for personal and for my small business, without having an accountant for many years. It took about three hours of painstaking work, but in the end, we saw the light of day, and he was able to get me a hefty refund! Fast forward, a year later (almost to the day!), and I find out that I'm among his very first 10 clients he ever took on, as only that same week, he branched out to become his own boss and run his own small business. He is truly a skilled bookkeeper, and SO much more! He really does take the fright out of finances and he's truly terrific with taxes. He's done an amazing job with my books this past year, and I trust him with all my financial decisions. And, he's a really down-to-earth cool kinda guy! Heavy metal, LEGO'S and Star Wars are among his personal interests, and he's a great family man, too, with two little ones who are absolutely adorable! And he recently got a new puppy.
