After relocating to Hampton Court, Surrey I was looking for a martial arts club that offered a mix of martial arts. I found Yoseikan Budo which offered a mix of Kickboxing, Judo and Jiu-Jitsu and I thought I would give it a go. After the first few weeks I found that the instructor Izzel varies the sessions every week so that striking and grappling change each week, which is great if you can only attend once a week as you get to try both. The standard of teaching is excellent, and you are made to feel welcome by Izzel and the other students at the club who try and help beginners like me, which is great because as a beginner you don't really want an intimidating atmosphere and there is a great sense of team spirit. Inside their own building, the club offers great facilities for training with fully matted area, free standing punch bag and dummy, toilets and changing rooms. It is great as some people there train for competition, some for self defense and others to lose weight and improve their fitness so their is a good range of different levels and abilities.

The club has a friendly feel to it and is very welcoming to people of all levels. I have been training there for around 9 years now and obtained my black belt 1st Dan after 6 years. I feel that even after 9 years I still learn something new every week as I am amazed at the depth of knowledge of the instructor, Izzel. Even though I am an advanced student, there are many different levels of ability at the club, who attend beginner and advanced sessions, and the instructor is able to run sessions that cater for anyone of any level. The sessions are run to cater for the different aims and interests of the students, some students train for competition, other students train for street and self defence, and then there are also students who just train to improve fitness.
