I travelled here alone for a relaxing 7 nights with my dog in the Lakewood Court (Pet) lodge. The staff were so welcoming, especially Sarah, and I felt incredibly safe! The lodge was immaculate and although its a self catering establishment, the lodge was well equipped with everything I needed (and more) for the duration of my stay to keep it nice and clean. Hot tub was amazing, private, and the lights were so pretty - it was enclosed with a gate so the dog couldnt get out which was a bonus. There is a hugeeee field for dogs that is enclosed all around (apart from when you walk in). My dog loved it, its a shame that it didnt get used much by others but good enough for us with no one around. I actually didnt leave the site all week, but there are plenty of leaflets and recommendations on stuff to do nearby. I usually stay in lodges at the Lake District, but as I was on a study week, WiFi was a must. You cant get any decent WiFi in the lakes, however the WiFi here was rapid! There is a dongle provided and you just need to key in the password - these are topped up by staff as explained in the welcome pack. Sarah made sure this was done before I got there - lovely touch! If you are working away/need to bring your laptop with you I recommend this place. Best things about the place: Hot tub, peaceful, great location, dog friendly, great customer service from the staff Negatives: I wanted to stay for another 3 nights, but it was fully booked!! Hopefully I will find an excuse to visit again

Fantastic stay at one of the nicest lodges Ive ever stayed at (no.47). We arrived a little early so messaged to see if we could check in a little earlier, whilst collecting a few bits from the local Asda we received a quick reply to say our lodge was ready. From walking in the heating was on and the place was spotless. Completed with full amenities washing up liquid tea bags etc. The hot tub was amazing and clean and we wasted no time trying it out! Me and my partner wanted a chilled weekend away from the kids and left too it with no screaming neighbours or stragglers coming in from a noisy entertainment complex and thats exactly what we got. There is plenty to do in the town centre about a 10 min drive away where we visited the Tullie house Museum the Carlisle citadel and the Carlisle castle. The Talkin Tarn trail is about a 20 min drive away and is a short walk about 40 mins in total and can be found on the AllTrails app for walking lovers. Hadrians wall walk is also on the app which we didnt bother to do as this is a good 5 hours but possibly could be made shorter. There is a brochure in the lodge that gives you all attractions, local amenities, activities and maps. You also get access to Netflix, instructions how to use and wifi which we didnt need as we had our own data. Highly recommend this place.

Extremely disappointed across the board with Green Meadows Country Park. Booked a week stay and ended up leaving within 12 hours of arriving. Despite being called Green Meadows Country Park, all you will find is a tiny bit of grass and small fountain in the middle of the site, unfortunately thats where the Green part ends. The rest of the site is full of construction and appears to be plonked in the middle of nowhere. Although we had booked a pet lodge (despite not taking a pet), as this was all that was available at the time, the lodge was dirty and smelt strongly of dog, the sofas were particularly potent. We have chosen pet options through Hoseasons before and they have always been to a clean standard and minimal odour. We also then found stains and long hairs in the master bed. The WiFi does not work and should not be advertised as available, I work within the IT sector and tried for hours to get it going. The issue is there arent any phone lines and the owner has decided to provide a Vodafone dongle (on what appears to be the cheapest contract they could buy), which, although you can connect to, you will not get any sort of speed able to download an email, let alone stream any services like Netflix. The TV was connected to an indoor aerial, which wasnt tuned in, I again spent an hour sorting this myself. The lodges look nice and modern from photos, but in person I can assure you they are very cheaply constructed and not what Id expect when you paying 600 for a weeks stay. When I approached Patrick in reception, who is also the site owner, I felt very intimidated and the only response I got was extremely defensive. He merely explained they have professional cleaners and then tried to explain how to enter a Wi-Fi password on my devices, as if that was going to sort the internet issues, despite me explaining my IT literacy and how many steps Id already attempted, the only alternative offered was a different dongle to try. When I spoke to Hoseasons about the issues, they did nothing to help, they spoke to the site owner point blank refused any form of refund, Hoseasons then advised that they are merely a marketing company and any customer service is down to the site owner themselves, this is not what I expected from Hoseasons and thought they were more focused on customer service and quality than that. Overall we spent 600 for less than 12 hours in a lodge. I would recommend avoiding visiting Green Meadows Country Park at all costs
