I would not recommend this home to anyone whos relative has dementia, my mother at 90 was promised a home for life, I was not given a contract I was given an agreement by the owner. At 95 and after a severe injury to my mothers arm which they refused to explain leaving me no choice but to report them to the CQC and on their advice informed, adult abuse and social services. I was given an eviction notice for Mum on Christmas Eve which made it almost impossible to find another nursing home especially during Covid. The owner personally took my 95 year old mother crying to her new home, at this point I hadnt seen my mother for 9 mths and couldnt settle her in. This home did nothing to help relatives keep in touch during lockdown, and relatives were told contact was only during their open door policy, which resulted in 15 cases of Covid. This is not a dementia home, beautiful garden but they never taken out there. Beautiful lounge but my mother spent 5years sitting in a wheelchair. Same food for supper every day for 5 years. None of the staff speak English very well, so for a dementia patient this is very difficult. My mother went to her new nursing home severely malnourished and underweight resulting in her teeth not fitting. A report from a psychiatrist who visited Mum during her time there, wrote a report that this home, in its practices, borders on intuitional abuse. I was told at age 90 my mother had to go into a home , and was given a week to find her one. I feel it is up to us relatives to help each other by writing these reviews to warn of unsustainable homes that give a false impression of there facilities for caring for the elderly suffering from dementia. I personally highly recommend this wonderful home for the elderly. My mother has been living at Barnham Manor for the past 3 years and I can honestly say that she has received exemplary care in every way. Before Covid restrictions I visited my mother more than once a week and even throughout lockdown I have been able to visit at least once a week and speak to my mother daily. There is not a day that my Mother doesn't say to me how lucky she feels that we found Barnham Manor for her. She loves the staff and feels she is so thankful to be in such a wonderful place that is so beautifully maintained to such a high standard inside and out. I defy anyone to manage to find a speck of dust or dirt! The gardens that we so enjoy when visiting my mother are exceptional and my Mothers room and communal areas light, warm and inviting. It is a 'home from home'. The care and attention to detail is obvious from the moment you walk into Barnham Manor. The owners Brenda and Gary Curpen have always shown us the greatest of respect and always been informative and approachable as well as highly professional in what they do so very well. The staff are always welcoming, warm and cheerful and coffee or tea proffered on arrival. My Mother now has early onset Alzheimers and I cannot imagine what we would do without the love and care she is being shown, nor can I begin to thank everyone enough for all their hard work, patience and resilience throughout these difficult times at Barnham Manor. I believe there are not enough accolades that could be given to all the staff and Brenda & Gary as a thank you from the bottom of my heart for what they all do because they too all have families and lives outside and who knows what each individual has to endure behind their smiling faces, so we must all be kind to one another in this life, which is what I know they do so well at in Barnham Manor. See below photo of my Mother's recent 88th Birthday.

Always a cheerful greeting from everyone in the home. I visit weekly and it is a real favourite. The residents are happy and very interactive which gives a good base for a fun positive activity. I have known Brenda and Gary for at least ten years and in that time they have made Barnham Manor a beautiful home.
