Havent stayed at the campsite but my 8 year old with ASD/ADHD had lessons at the riding stables. She loves horses and its so good for her confidence. Unfortunately had a bad experience. They wanted to put her on an Arab that was way too big for her and we over heard the girl saying how he was a complete nightmare and she didnt want to lead him. This upset my daughter and we politely asked if she could ride a smaller more suitable horse which they eventually agreed to. Staff were very rude to each other and tension seemed very high. They were really impatient with my daughter who struggles with instructions due to her ADHD and wanted to come off half way through. I tried to speak to the lady to explain my daughters needs but she just told me how inconvenient it was that I was disrupting her lesson. I would have been quite happy to discuss a way forward perhaps in the form of a private lesson but she was so rude and unprofessional she clearly just wanted to get rid of us. I wouldnt recommend this place for SEN or anyone really that wants to be treated with respect. Just feel sad for my daughter as its put her off riding and knocked her confidence which is already very low due to her difficulties. Shame as there is another lady there who did her stirrups and took her for lesson previously who is absolutely lovely.

*I did not stay on the campsite here, I rode with their equestrian centre* I booked an hour's ride as a surprise for my wife. She had ridden before but I had not. Despite the different experience levels, our guide (whose name escapes me) was able to cater to both of us and made us (mostly me) feel very comfortable considering I'd never really been on a horse. The guide led me when she was on foot and my wife rode. The ride was lovely, and took us through some country footpaths and some woodland. There was a short period where we trotted - which was daunting at first, but, again, the guide was brilliant in delivering a very quick but effective lesson for me. She also made conversation throughout our time and made it a very pleasant morning. Prior to the ride, I emailed back and forth with Leslie who I believe owns/runs the site. She was brilliant and answered all of my many questions promptly. Overall it was terrific fun and I would highly recommend to anyone of any and all skill levels.
