BRC restorations in my experience have been a pleasure to work with. Steve and Rich are two great people who, as I say, are solid car guys. I had asked them to work on my car which although very much not considered a classic or valuable car, was extremely important to me. This was totally understood by all involved and no judgement was passed for trying to put a rusty Peugeot 406 into a workshop more used to dealing with genuine bonafide classic road and race cars.
Steve thoroughly explained the risks and processes of the work that would need to be undertaken to my car, and offered me a very reasonable hourly rate to do so, along with making sure I was aware of and prepared for, the fact that nasty surprises can be common (foreshadowing). All costs and reasons behind them were explained both verbally and in the contract I signed with Steve to carry out the work. Communication after drop off was via WhatsApp or phone call.
During the initial strip down and exploration phase I was kept up to date and sent many pictures from Rich and also Steve with explanations of what parts I would need to source. Doing so myself would help keep costs down as it allows the guys to continue doing the important stuff which is actually carrying out the work on customers vehicles.
As it turns out, my car was in far too poor condition, and many parts needed for it were impossible to obtain, so despite my years of insistence that I would never part ways with it, I had to make the extremely difficult decision to stop the work and accept that it was beyond reasonable repair.
Despite my complete 180 from just the day before, Steve and Rich both completely understood and supported my decision to pull the plug. Steve even rang me after finishing for the day and spent 20 mins on the phone with me to make sure I was OK as I was upset after making the decision to scrap the car, and Rich contacted me through WhatsApp for the same reason. This speaks to the sort of guys that run this business.
Overall, despite the disappointing end to my particular project I cannot recommend BRC restorations enough, top blokes who do honest work. If you have a classic and are in need of major or minor work carrying out, definitely give them a call.
