We stayed in.pod hollow March 10th 2023. We found it to be very damp as the heating is not upto heating such a large area, there are only 2 small electric heaters for the open plan area. Electric stove fan heater in fire place . Very damp particularly near fireplace and mouldy . Bedrooms were very warm and cosy with comfy beds. Even the toilet paper was very damp in bathroom. Very damp smell also to it. It's a real shame as the theme is absolutely spot on and I'm sure summertime it would be lovely. DVD player wasn't working so couldn't watch hobbit films , owners were very prompt in looking at this problem but couldn't solve it. I do feel these things should be checked before arrival. Just a shame for the 450 we paid for 2 nights . Nearby activities: West Stowe worthwhile to have a lovely walk round and explore.

We stayed here for a mini break at the start of February half term with our two children. Although we love glamping, we chose the woodland lodge so we had enough space and the heating because our youngest is only 8 months. The lodge is spacious and although pretty brisk when we arrived it warmed up well and stayed warm so that additional heating wasn't needed except for a quick top up first thing in the morning and on getting back in from the outdoors. The kitchen is very well appointed with everything you'd need (a smaller vegetable knife would be handy but we managed ok with the two larger knives). There is a little induction hob, microwave, kettle, fridge and toaster. Plenty of plates, bowls, glassware and cutlery. You get a 10% discount on entry at the Saxon village and museum if you tell them you're staying at the pods, which we made use of (excellent place with kids). The woodland lodge is right alongside the road and we'd worried a bit about this for noise levels (family of light sleepers) but it didn't bother us at all - very infrequent (if very fast; watch out if you've got kids playing out front) cars and the lodge disguised most of the sound. In summer it would be much better as the trees will be in leaf and that will help lots too. Didn't spoil the view or atmosphere for us at all. We want to come back and try the pods - another couple staying in one mentioned they are heated too but we hadn't seen this on the website. The two pods right at the back look super private and face away into the trees/field beyond. All seem very spacious. The only downside for us is that the location means walks from the site aren't really doable with kids as you have to walk on roads to access tracks. The roads are quiet ish but cars zoom along at very fast speeds and I wouldn't have been happy taking our 5 year old on those. We walk a lot as a family having spent lockdown walking for miles with our eldest in the Chilterns. That's the only downside, everything else was excellent. We will be back!

The pod smelt of damp. The toilet shower had mould and damp in the corners as there's no heating in the toilet so they are freezing this time of year (November). My wife booked a weekend there for us but the pod was so uncomfortable and smelled we only stayed one night. The mattress is only a couple inches thick so made the one night we stayed there super uncomfortable. With no apparent walks or anything to do it's not a great location.
