Wow. 2pm looking for a place for lunch. Walked in and were openly welcomed by Tom (found out his name later), and The Lion accepts dogs so in we went. I had Smoked Duck Breast, my wife had hot Smoked Trout. Both so tasty. Delish. Main course we both had Shepherds Pie made from Sunday lunch's pulled Lamb. OMG. Totally unbelievable flavours. Served on a skillet, with beautifully cooked beetroots, cabbage, carrots and new potatoes. I cannot recommend The Lion strongly enough. One of the best catering operations I've come across in many a day. I asked for bacon for my dogs and was offered pigs trotters free of charge. I went with the bacon but it demonstrated their service ethic. It's worth going out of your way to visit The Lion. It's got good parking, 12 accommodation rooms and it's so good we're going back there again later this week. You might need to book especially for Sunday lunch and if what we both had today is an example of their food quality and service then Sunday lunch has to be memorable. Tony Perrin West Sussex.

We stayed here for 1 night during April '23. The location was perfect for us as we were taking part in a local event. The hotel is easy to find and very close to 'quirky' Glastonbury. Ample parking is available at the rear, with a few spaces at the front. The staff were welcoming and efficient, providing an excellent service throughout our short stay. Although our bedroom faced the main road, we did not hear any traffic noise probably due to the secondary glazing. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The en-suite had an array of quality toiletries. Ground coffee together with a cafetiere and tea bags, were available. The only minor criticism was that we were too warm, possibly due to the heat emitting from the towel rail. Every space was clean and tidy. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was absolutely marvellous. Breakfast started at 8am and was equally excellent with fresh fruit salad, pastries, cereal etc. This is a superb place to stay, or have dinner. I would certainly recommend The Lion to others. Thank you for a great stay.
