The people running it seem to be incredibly incompetent and very rude. We made a booking to see the place turned up at the confirmed time as per their email, showing I'D as required. Yet as we 'weren't in the system' we were held outside in the cold weather at the security checkpoint with our 20 month old child. We were then told by a truly unhelpful, rude, disrepectful member of staff that we won't be allowed to see the nursery that day. Give the contempt the staff can show perants and grandparents. I would not have confidence to leave my child in their care.

Unfortunately we had a negative experience with Bright Horizons Pentland nursery. We took our 1.5 years old toddler there for around 8 weeks and had to withdraw, the only regret we have is not doing it earlier. We have had a range of issues - constantly giving the baby a dummy, carrying around while we ask not to do that, sometimes in other children's cloth, sometimes even with others' dummies. Staff was constantly giving misleading information about eating, activities and behavior. Our son did not settle well and was crying every morning when taking to the nursery, we were told that it is ok and we should just wait until they settle. He had obvious regression, started playing with less advanced toys at home, even started crawling again. We talked to the management about concerns we had, and we were told to lower our expectations. The overall experience is that this is a low standards nursery, management does not take feedback and the staff is not motivated to do a good job. Our child is attending a new nursery now and he is thriving there.

First the good. 1) The teachers are absolutely amazing, they are loving and supporting, lots of cuddles for babies, lots of independence for older kids. Teachers take development journeys seriously, parents are treated as equal partners. 2) The policies are good, safety and security of children are in the center of each activity. We leave our daughter there each day knowing that they are in best hands. Opportunities for improvement. 1) Space: the garden is small and while the baby room and the pre-school room are bright and spacious, the toddler room could definitely use more light. 2) Communication towards parents: we haven't been officially notified about major changes in our daughter's life (like, the baby and toddler groups were merged at some point, some teachers have been put into a different group or left the nursery altogether), we just 'figured it out' later from teachers at pick-up.
