Wow terrible customer service no weight for the balloon but still charged full price which I accepted as these things happen , I then asked could they fill a small balloon I found that came with the weight I so I could weight the balloon they gave me she charged me more than the full price of the balloon ! How mean spirited I had planned on ordering a load of balloons for coming event , I will be sure not to buy from here I would avoid this place .

Amazing cakes at reasonable prices. The sponge was light and fluffy. Adding eggs would not have improved the cake in any way. Really impressed! Updated review: My previous review from 4 years ago fully deserved it's 5 stars. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. I don't know if there is new management or new bakers but the cakes are no longer light and fluffy. Whoever is making them also tends to be very heavy handed with the sugar to the point that the cakes are now sickly sweet. I hope the management take this criticism on board and bring back the Cake Box that so impressed myself and others when they first opened in North Finchley.

For the customers, please be CAUTIOUS when paying contactless. Make sure their staff member enters the correct amount before paying by card or contactless, to avoid stress later on refund. I had this experience where they overcharged me 100 more than what I bought (I bought 11.00 total for the cakes). Their staff refunded the amount right after realising the mistake. After a few minutes, I checked my mobile banking and it was appearing as another spending, not as a refund. I have informed the staff member in the shop and she said she did it as a refund on the card reader machine, and for me to comeback after 3 days if it was not showing on my bank account. After 3 days, I checked my bank account and I was charged total 200 more than the cake price. So now, they were owing me 200. After work, I went back to Cake Box with all the proof of receipts and even showed the staff member the transactions on my mobile banking. However, the staff insisted she did it as a refund. She phoned the manager and they had quite a long talk which was not in English language. I was there patiently waiting with my heavily pregnant belly. Then, they were asking me to send my bank statement and my bank details to them and they will sort it out in 72 hours. It was a shock and disappointing for me to hear that just to process a refund in store, considering I had all the receipts and proof of transactions. They SHOULD be able to sort it out and do the refund at that moment. I had refunds in other shops before and they never asked about my bank details for a refund in store. Because I took a while in the shop, my husband and two kids came from the carpark to check on me. The lady in the till was insisting that the manager said: for me to send my bank statement and my bank details and they will sort it out in 72 hours. We asked to speak to the manager and my husband spoke to him via phone. It was quite a long discussion as the manager was also saying he needs to be physically in the store to do the refund. He said his staff member cant do it, which is totally contradicting with what the lady in the shop was claiming that she did the refund when I bought the cake. It was unacceptable and unprofessional way for them to deal with a customer. I am heavily pregnant with my two kids in the shop. When my husband said we will file a complaint, that was the only time the manager agreed to transfer the 200 back to us. I confronted the lady in the till and asked her if she ever did a refund before using their card reader machine ( I was thinking maybe their machine is broken) And surprisingly, she said it was her first time doing it when she was supposedly refunding the 100 in the first instance. It just means that she did not know how to process a refund using the card reader machine. Instead of processing it as a refund, she processed it as a Sale. The 200 is not a small amount of money, especially with the current inflation. I dont want other customers to experience the inconveniences we had, especially in this circumstance wherein it was a mistake done by the retailer and not the customer. To the management of Cake Box, please train your staff with the use of your Card reader machine. There will come a time that a customer would need a refund and I dont want them to experience inconveniences and hassles to get back their hard-earned money.
