I was tasked with ordering a new vehicle for my boss as part of my role as his chauffeur. The vehicle was to be a new Range Rover Autobiography LWB SV.
I started by phoning Harwoods to enquire about and spoke to a very helpful young sales executive who took down my contact details and informed me that I would receive a call back in the next couple of days. Five days went by and I had still not received any contact from them so I called them again. I was told again that a member of the sales team would be in contact in the next couple of days. A further week went by and still no contact. I was a little surprised and frustrated at this bearing in mind the cost of the proposed vehicle.
I then decided to visit the garage in person where I spoke to a very helpful and knowledgeable sales executive. He guided me through the process of how to order the vehicle and the specification and order was completed about a week later. The price was agreed on which for this type and spec of vehicle is a huge amount of money. The required forms were completed and signed by my boss on March 14 th and March 29 th.
I then received and e mail from the sales executive informing me that there has been a global price increase with a revised price for our vehicle which was 10,000 more than agreed. I have contested this with Harwoods but have been told that they were not aware of the price increase until March 30 th ?. This is not acceptable, surely you cannot agree on a price, receive the order forms etc and then just add 10,000 to the price?
My boss has a new Range Rover about every 5 years, so over the next 20 years this will total almost 1,000,000 worth of vehicles.
We will not be sourcing these vehicles from Harwoods as from now.
I was given the impression that they werent really that bothered about the sale of a high end vehicle, maybe this is due to the well publicised high demand for the vehicles.
I feel very disappointed with this, I was keen to use our local Land Rover dealer and looking forward to driving a high end, nicely specified Range Rover daily as my role as a chauffeur.
